Thomas W. Maxwell, 78, passed away on April 30, 2023 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mr. Maxwell was born in Anderson, South Carolina to parents, Joel and Jenny Lawson Maxwell. 

Thomas moved to Fort Pierce, Florida with his parents in 1956. He graduated from Dan McCarty High School, Class of 1962. He owned and operated Maxwell’s Upholstery for 50 years in Fort Pierce, FL and Clarkesville, GA. He moved to Clarkesville, GA in 2001, bought second home in Fort Pierce, Florida in 2007 and became a snowbird.  He loved to play the guitar, sing, and entertain.  Original member of Tom Cat’s Band formed in 1960.  Tom loved to hike, cook, garden, avid reader, builder, craftsman and of the Jehovah’s Witness faith. Tom loved to laugh and joke around. Everyone found great joy in hearing his contagious laughter. 

Beloved husband of 29 years to Joan Green Maxwell; beloved father to daughters, Melinda Blackburn (Brian) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Michelle Kraft of St. Augustine, FL, beloved step-father, to stepsons, Matthew Holley (Teresa) of Englewood, FL, Eric Holley (Jennifer) of Englewood, FL, Russell Williams (Victoria) of Fort Pierce, FL; beloved brother to  siblings, sister, Gloria Little of Vero Beach, FL, brother, Charles Maxwell (Wanda) of Fort Pierce, FL, and brother, Benny Maxwell of Port St. Lucie, FL; beloved grandfather to 7 grandchildren; beloved great-grandfather to 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Devin Maxwell, Joel Maxwell.

Family will have a memorial on zoom at a later date for family and friends. 

In lieu of flowers, send all memorial contributions to Hospice.
