Thomas Alfred Miller, 83, died January 6, 2017 while visiting family in Atlanta, Georgia.
Thomas was born in Lumberton, Mississippi and moved to Fort Pierce, Florida in the early 1950’s. He attended Fort Pierce High School where he met and then married Phyllis Earline Wall and they were married for 61 years. After high school, Thomas entered the Navy Silent Service. He served on multiple submarines over 20 years ending his Navy service as ETCS (SS) on the nuclear power submarine Nautilus. He then worked with Florida Power Corporation at the Crystal River, Florida nuclear power plant for 19 years retiring in 1993. After retiring, Thomas moved to Dunnellon, Florida and lived there with Phyllis until 2012 when they moved to Melbourne, Florida. Thomas enjoyed sailing, canoeing, fishing, and just about any activities that included time with his family, grandchildren, or great grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Cynthia Lynn Johnston of Melbourne, FL; Vickie Jo Miller of Melbourne, FL; Thomas D. Miller of Cocoa Beach, FL; brother Terry Miller of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren Stephen Johnston, Whitney O’Keefe, Miranda Bennett, Thomas Bennett, Shane Locuson, Thomas James Miller, Lita Locuson, and Jessica Miller; great grandchildren Hailey Beth O’Keefe, Seth Tauscher, Adrianna O’Keefe, Makayla O’Keefe, and Hayley Alexis O’Keefe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Earline Miller; and his brother Lars Miller.
Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 10-11 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery, Fort Pierce.
