Tony Joseph Aponte, also known as "T" or "Big T," passed away on February 3, 2024, at the age of 47 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Tony was born on April 8, 1976, in Worcester, Massachusetts. But was raised in Southbridge Massachusetts and in 2006 moved to Florida.
He was a three-pound three-ounce fighter and fought his entire life. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Tony was a man of many talents and passions. He had a love for cooking and was an avid chef. Recently, he also discovered a passion for canvas painting. Tony was a metalhead who enjoyed immersing himself in the local music scene.
Despite his imposing stature, he had a gentle and kind-hearted nature that earned him the nickname "big sexy." Tony had an infectious personality, a great smile, and was always the life of the party. No matter the challenges he faced, whether it was health-related or otherwise, Tony remained positive and optimistic. He had a way with words and was a smooth talker. He was the best friend, partner in crime, and number one supporter to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Tony's family and friends meant the world to him. He was always there to lend a helping hand and would go to great lengths to protect and support them. He had a special bond with his 7-pound service animal named Brooklyn, who was his loyal companion.
Tony is survived by his mother, Linda St. Pierre of Port St. Lucie, Florida, his sisters BettyJo Miller of Fort Pierce, Florida, Bobbijo Miller wife of Robert Borkowski of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Amy Soares of Linden, NJ, Anna Demontigny of Uxbridge Massachusetts, A brother Michael Bashaw of Malone, NY, and Stepbrother’s Paul and Scott L’Ecuyer and Stepsister Monique L’Ecuyer. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews Zachary Dupuis of Beverly, Massachusetts, Krystalann Holley of Jacksonville, Florida, Angela St. Pierre of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Elizabeth Kaestner of Fort Pierce, Florida. Amber Demontigny of Blackstone Massachusetts, Jason Demontigny and Jocelyn Sabella of Warwick RI, and Josiah of Demontigny Uxbridge Massachusetts and also several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Hector Aponte and his grandparents Raymond and Christine St. Pierre and Manuel and Petrula Aponte.
Tony's educational journey included attending West Street Elementary for his primary education, Bay Path Regional Vocational High School for high school, and Florida Career College for higher education. He excelled in his studies and was always eager to learn. Throughout his life, Tony pursued various careers. He was a self-made cook, skilled in the culinary arts. He also had experience in masonry and was HVAC certified. Tony also had a way with words; he had a poem published in a book called “A Pleasant Reverie.” Tony's diverse skill set allowed him to explore different professional paths.
When Tony wasn't working, he enjoyed indulging in his hobbies. He was a marijuana enthusiast and found joy in canvas painting. Riding his motorcycle brought him a sense of freedom and adventure. Tony loved tattoos as he had many of them; and was an avid concert attendee.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Kidney Foundation in memory of Tony Aponte. The family would greatly appreciate any support given to this cause.
A visitation for Tony will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 2PM to 4PM with a Service to begin at 4PM at the Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Tony Aponte will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. His infectious personality, kindness, and unwavering support will be cherished and remembered forever. May he rest in peace.
