Vera Nell Moyers
March 10, 1938 – August 12, 2023
Vera Nell Moyers, 85, passed away on August 12, 2023 after a long illness. In 1952, she married Albert Lee Bennett and out of this union they had three boys, Keith, Kevin, and Craig. When Albert returned from the Army, the family moved to Florida. Nell and Albert later divorced. She later was married to Walter Moyers for 33 years before his passing last November.
As an educator, Mrs. Nell Moyers gave 31 years of dedicated service to the students and parents of Fairlawn Elementary. Her career began in 1973 as an intern, followed by a permanent teaching position. Mrs. Moyers spent her entire teaching career at Fairlawn Elementary, teaching various grade levels. In 1997, she was chosen as Fairlawn’s Teacher of the Year. Her talents extended far beyond the classroom. Mrs. Moyers was also a master seamstress, event planner, and flower designer. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband and volunteering at Westside Church Women’s Ministry.
Nell will be missed and remembered by her two sons, Keith (Karen) Bennett of Sundance, Wyoming and Craig Bennett of Jasper, Alabama; her grandchildren, Bobbie (Doug) Ludwig of Custer, South Dakota, Leslie (Paul) Rodriguez of Summerset, South Dakota, Emery Bennett of Anaconda, Montana, Kerri Bennett, Laura (Johnny) Grubbs, and Deven (Devan) Bennett all of Jasper, Alabama; her sister-in-law, Dorothy McKenzie; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her dearest friend Margaret Watson of Cooper City, Florida. She is preceded in passing by her parents Earl and Birdie Moore; her sister Coleen; her brothers, Bernard, Alan, and Billy; her husband Walter Moyers; and her son, Kevin (infant).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice in memory of Nell Moyers.
A visitation will be held at Haisley Funeral Home on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 2 PM to 3 PM with a service at 3 PM and a reception to follow.
