Vilma Maud Lawrence, 78, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed away on September 15, 2017 in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Vilma worked for a short time at Jamaica Dairy Industries Limited before going to work at Seprod Limited for 26 years before retiring. She then moved to live in New York. She attended Lenox Hill Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. She loved to spend her Sundays in church.
Vilma loved children and spent most of her time taking care for her grandchildren. She was very domesticated, she kept her house in an immaculate condition at all times; she also loved to cook and bake. She also loved to sew and would make and mend her clothes at times.
Her survivors are her two daughters, Janice Joy Bigby of Port Saint Lucie and Winsome Joy Gordon of Port Royal, Kingston Jamaica and son, William Junior Bigby of New York City, New York; Grandsons, Akeeme Bigby, Francois Gordon and Trevor Cunningham; granddaughters, Kimberly Gordon, and Nicole Cunningham; brother, Vincent Gordon; sister, Inez Cummings and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, William Lawrence and Viola Grant; brothers, Henry Lawrence and Aston Gordon.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 2PM – 4PM with a service starting at 4PM at Haisley Funeral Home 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port Saint Lucie, Florida 34984. A repass will be held after the service at The Caribbean American Cultural Group – in the Fountains Plaza-10012-10014 US Federal Highway 7 Port Saint Lucie, Florida 34952.
