Violet Louise Collie Locke, 95 of Fort Pierce passed away Tuesday Morning, January 3rd 2017 at Port St. Lucie Nursing and Rehabilitative Center.
Violet was born in her grandparent's home on May 15, 1921 in Montowese, Connecticut and resided in Connecticut until 1958 when Florida became home. She married her childhood sweetheart, "Jack" John Locke on November 17, 1936 and never looked back, remaining married until his passing.
Violet was not only a devoted wife but also quite the home maker. She enjoyed getting dolled up and proudly was a wig wearer of her time. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, especially gerber daisies. Violet could meticulously sew, knit and crochet very well. In later years, she began wood carving and painting with her husband. She enjoyed being in the sun and collecting seashells down at the beach. Violet loved baking and making homemade peanut butter cookies with her grandchildren. Her favorite saying was "Kissey, Kissey! May all your dreams come true!"
She attended Southside Christian Church where her mom, Florence, played the piano for many years until she started attending Sunrise Tabernacle.
Mrs. Locke is survived by her two children; Gordon Arthur Locke of Boise, Idaho and Donna Lynn Harwell of Moncks Corner, SC; Eight granddaughters, One Grandson, Seven Great Grandsons, and Two Great-Great Grandsons. She lived a beautifully full life and will be missed by those she loved.
Services: Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Montowese, Connecticut.
