Virgil J. Burton, 83, died July 11, 2006 in Houston, Texas.Mr. Burton was born in Grayson, Kentucky, son of Jacob & Lottie Waggoner Burton. He moved to Fort Pierce in 1955 from Ashland, Kentucky.Mr. Burton was the former owner of M&J Radiator in Vero Beach, Florida and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII in the Pacific. He was a member of the Amara Shriner’s and First Baptist Church of Fort Pierce, Fort Pierce Lodge #87 F.&A.M., Saint Lucie County Shrine Club and Amara Temple. He received a 55 year Master Mason Certificate from the Masonic Lodge.Survivors include his daughters, Caryl Burton Arthur of Greenville, South Carolina and Jetta Burton Eller of Houston, Texas; 1 brother, Marion Burton of Ashland, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Leighton Arthur of Simpsonville, South Carolina, David Arthur of Powdersville, South Carolina, Daniel Arthur of Allen, Texas, and Jillian and Jana Eller both of Houston, Texas and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Bettie May Burton and four sisters.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Fort Pierce, 4500 South 25th Street, Fort Pierce, Florida 34982.
