Virginia Kay Addison

Virginia K. Addison, 75, of Port St. Lucie, passed away in Ft. Pierce, on February 28, 2016.
She was born November 28, 1940, in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Harold and Willow Shirey. She was a long time resident of Lake Orion, MI, until moving to Jensen Beach in 1995.
While living in Jensen Beach, she was employed in the clerical department at the Council on Aging - Martin County.
Virginia was an avid fan of SCCA Road America racing which her husband and son participated. When her husband decided to try racing sailboats later in life, she became a great fan - especially when the US took back the America's Cup. She loved sewing, quilting and reading, but also enjoyed the outdoors by horseback riding and swimming.
She took an active part in her childrens' interests growing up, particularly in 4H and racing.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 55 years, John B. Addison II of Port St. Lucie; her daughter and son-in-law, Kay A. Addison and Keith Stanko of Port St. Lucie; her grandson, Michael S. Sutherland II and his wife, Aubrey of Frankenmuth, MI; her granddaughter, Jessica L. Sutherland of Mt. Pleasant, MI; her great granddaughter, Amelia Lier of Frankenmuth, MI; brother, Robert Shirey of Texas; her sister, Gay Cates of Jensen Beach; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, John B. Addison III of Lake Orion, MI, who died in 1994.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, there will be no visitation and services will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Rd., Ft. Pierce, FL, or visit their website at www.tchospice.com .
