Waldo Jones Akins, 95, of Fort Pierce, Florida died on October 3, 2022.
He was born on February 21, 1927 in Bulloch County, Statesboro, Georgia, he was the son of the late Roger and Ruby Akins. He spent his early years on the family farm and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Jones married Betty Brannen in 1954 and they moved to Fort Pierce in 1956. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Pierce, Florida and an avid outdoorsman loving to fish and hunt. He worked for the Federal-State Inspection service for many years and retired from Seald-Sweet Growers, Inc.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty Brannen Akins, two sisters and five nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. The family will receive guests prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
