Wally C. Coleman, Sr., born Wallace Carrington Coleman, on December 5, 1942, in Savannah, GA, died on July 12, 2005, at the age of 62, at St. Lucie Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Coleman was predeceased by his parents, Ahlfeld and Pearl Davis Coleman, his brothers Louie and Harry Coleman, and his sister Pearl Josephine Wise.He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Charlyn Ann Rupke Coleman, of Port St. Lucie, sons Wallace Carrington Coleman, Jr. of Waco, TX, Franklin Tennyson Coleman of Phoenix, AZ, Henry Clayton Coleman of Longmont, CO, C1C Michael Turner Coleman of the US Air Force Academy, CO, one daughter Cynthia Sue Blatt of Punta Gorda, FL,sister, Marie Chastain of Springdale, AR, 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Coleman served briefly in the Army National Guard. Mr. Coleman moved to the Treasure Coast area from Ft. Hood, TX in 1984 and was retired from restaurant management. He moved from Hays, KS in 1977 to accompany his wife in the military. He started the Officer’s Spouses Club at Ft. Hood, TX, received honors for his contributions in establishing the neighborhood watch program in military housing on Ft. Hood and served as mayor of the company grade officer’s quarters.He was a member of Montebello Whittier Lodge No 323, Whittier, CA; Valley of Lake Worth Scottish Rite, Lake Worth, FL; Amara Shriners, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Copperas Cove Chapter 1070 Order of Eastern Star; Copperas Cove, TX; Amara Shrine Clown Unit, Florida Shrine Clown Assoc., Southeast Shrine Clown Assoc.; Royal Order of Jesters Palm Beaches Court #179, and was a Kentucky Colonel.Mr. Coleman was an active member of the Shriners serving on the Shriners Hospitals for Children committee and assisting numerous children into the Shrine hospital system. He was also Chairman of the Amara Shrine Circus for several years bringing the circus to the St. Lucie County Civic Center, and to the Amara Shrine Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He served as Potentate of Amara Shrine Center in 1997 and as Director of the Royal Order of Jesters Palm Beaches Court #179 in 2003.Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, July 15, 2005 at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce, Florida. Religious services will be held Saturday, July 16, at 11:00 AM, at First Congregational Church, Port St. Lucie, FL followed by Masonic & Jester Services. A graveside service will be held in Savannah, GA on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 11:00 AM.Contributions may be made to Amara Shrine Center Transportation Fund, 3650 RCA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, 33410.
