Our very own Glamorous Georgia Peach has hung her earthly high heels up in exchange for her heavenly golden slippers. Love has won! The clouds of heaven parted for the arrival of Willa
Lorraine Gibson on August 31, 2016 we celebrate the victory of her Love over her Death.
The world received the gift of Willa Lorraine Mathis on October 29, 1945. It was Thomasville GA, where her loving parents, Wil and Rosa Mathis groomed and prepared her for life. It was in Brooklyn NY, Los Angeles CA, Camden NJ and Ft. Pierce FL where she lived loved. Her heart of gold shined through to everyone whom she came in contact with, including her loving and supportive husband of 50 years Tommie L. Gibson. Lorraine and Tommie traveled the world together. The bond in which they have is not only unbreakable it was a demonstration of God’s love. Lorraine’s pride and joy was her children Tommie Koko Gibson (Angela) and Kahlil Gibson. She worked hard to ensure her children never had to worry about anything. Supplying them with a strong foundation of God’s values gives them the wisdom and faith to carry on. Although Lorraine was a blessed woman, God smiled on her even more with the arrival of her granddaughters, Mahogani Dawn, Melodi Reign and Brooklyn Summer Gibson. Her life became completely fulfilled with the girls she never had of her own. As much as they blessed their grandmother, Lorraine’s presence in their life will richly bless them forever. Lorraine was an active member of Mount Bethel Ministries church. There she served on the Usher Board and the Women’s Ministries. She loved her church and those she served the Lord with. In her personal life Lorraine was a social butter fly, she became to most of her co-workers an Aunt, God Mother and a good friend. She loved to please everyone with her cooking. She catered many church functions, family reunions, weddings and holiday gatherings. Lorraine also had flare for fashion, and as a result shopping became her favorite thing to do.
Lorraine’s living siblings Rosa Rhodes (NC), Hester (John) Shaw (OH), Hattie Taylor (NY), Fannie Rhodes (NY), Betty Campbell (NY) Jacqueline (Jim) Trotter (FL), Deidre (Moses) Schley (FL), April Sellars (NJ), Winfred Byron (GA), Craig Gibson (FL), and Keith (Marie) Gibson will continue the legacy of Love in which Lorraine has shared and demonstrated. Her special friends include Jemela Mwelu, Ora Solomon and Patricia OKonski. Lorraine had several nieces and nephews in which she had individual and unique relationships. She was very proud of her family. In addition to her lovely family her god children Guy Schley, Justin Gibson, Erica Lamy, Asia Wright and her church god daughter Tamia Bailey were all very special to her. Her tradition of love and family will flow through our family for generations.
