William “Billy” Cunningham was born on September 29, 1942 in Fort Pierce, FL. He graduated from Lincoln Park Academy in 1962.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Having served his country for two years, he was honorably discharged in 1964. William was employed by Piper Aircraft for over 10 years, later transferring to Grumman Aircraft, from which he retired. William was very well known and loved throughout the entire community. He had a big heart for people and no one was a stranger for long once he met them. He impacted everyone's life that came across his path. He was a jack of all trades. He started his Christian journey at St John United Methodist Church. He served faithfully as a Lay Speaker, Sunday School Teacher, Driver, Trustee, Missionary, and was consistent in his concern and visitation for the Sick and Shut-In. His Christian walk continued and ended at Community United Methodist Church.
William departed this life on Thursday, May 9, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Seymour Cunningham; parents, Maggie Lee Jones and William (Sonny) Cunningham; siblings, Robert Phuse, Glenn Cunningham, and Smith Lee Jones.
Left to cherish his memories are his four children: Vernita Walker (Chevey) of Dalzell, SC, Vicki Williams (Kelcey) of Port St. Lucie, FL, William E. Cunningham of Waldorf, MD, and Elaine C. Reed of Fort Pierce, FL; Siblings: Ann Cunningham of Fort Pierce FL, William K. Cunningham of Homerville, GA, and Bobby Jones (Regina) of Odessa FL; Twelve grandchildren: Lakisha Miles of Sumter, SC, Alexander J. Miles of Tampa, FL, Tamecika Lee (James) of Ruskin, FL, William E. Cunningham, Jr. (Shantanique) of Lithonia,GA, Kayla L. Cunningham of Lafayette LA, Kiatta L. Williams of Port St. Lucie, FL, Samuel J. Reed and Abraham I. Reed of Fort Pierce, FL; Essence E. Cunningham, Armoni A. Cunningham, and Chanel A. Cunningham of Waldorf, MD; Eleven Great-grandchildren: SPC (US ARMY) Korey D. Miles of Washington State, Christopher X. Cyphers

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Community United Methodist Church, Fort Pierce.
