William Goebel Huffman

William “Bill” Goebel Huffman, 81, passed away on September 14, 2007, at Port St. Lucie Restorative Nursing Home in Port St. Lucie, FL. Bill was born on February 12, 1926 in Pikeville, KY. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Pacific during WWII. After serving for his country, Bill entered the banking business and retired from Southeast Bank in 1991. Bill coached Fort Pierce Babe Ruth Baseball teams for many years. He was a member of the Fort Pierce Lions Club and Elks Lodge. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and Christian Fellowship Class. He enjoyed baseball, bowling, and golfing.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marcella Compton Huffman; son, William G. Huffman Jr., and wife Deborah; daughter, Victoria Huffman; granddaughter, Kathy Larson, and husband, Ron; granddaughter, Jennifer Beaty, and husband, Douglas; great-grandson, Alex Larson; Patricia Huffman, sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Archibald “Taterbug” Goebel Huffman and Molly Ramsey Huffman; sister, Elizabeth Josephine Sloan; and brother, John Paul Huffman.Friends may call on Tuesday, September 18, at 12-2 PM, at Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Ronald Thomas, officiating. Internment will be in the Compton Cemetery, Collins, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Treasure Coast Hospices, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997 or to First United Methodist Church, 616 Orange Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34950.
