William Carl (Bill) Kofoed, 84, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2018.
Bill was born in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Miami, FL when he was 5. After graduating from Miami Edison High, Bill attended Dartmouth College, Hanover NH and graduated in 1955. Bill then joined the Miami Herald as a reporter where his father, Jack Kofoed, was a long-time columnist. Later, he joined Hank Meyer Associates, one of Florida's leading public relations firms. After 10 years he opened Bill Kofoed, Inc. where, over the years in the travel industry he represented 18 airlines as well as car rental companies, tourism offices, hotel chains and tour operators. In 1997, he moved to Fort Pierce, FL shortly after marrying JoAnn Allen, who operated a real estate brokerage in St. Lucie County. He obtained his real estate license and worked side by side with her until her retirement in 2010. JoAnn and Bill spent many summers in the mountains in Bat Cave, NC, where they attended Hendersonville Presbyterian Church. Both Bill and JoAnn enjoyed attending Indian River Presbyterian Church when in Florida for the winter months.
Bill is survived by his wife, JoAnn; three daughters, Melanie Kofoed, Idaho Falls SD, Susan Grimes, Okeechobee FL, and Ashira (Richard) Young, Milltown IN; grandchildren, Jeffrey Kofoed, Swanzey NH, Gracie Grimes, Okeechobee FL, Nicholas and Amanda Cummings, Indianapolis IN; and four great-grandchildren. Bill was pre-deceased by his sons; Elliott Kofoed and Wayne Scott Fuzzard.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at Indian River Presbyterian Church located at 2499 Virginia Avenue, Ft. Pierce, FL on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 2 p.m.
