William Martin Shaw, 83, died April 6, 2007 in Stuart, Florida.Mr. Shaw was born in Bronx, New York and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1987 coming from West Hempstead, Long Island, New York.Prior to retirement, he worked for the New York Telephone Company for 38 years, member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, B.P.O.E. Elks of Fort Pierce-Port St. Lucie, FL, graduate of Mount St. Michael’s, Bronx, NY, and served in the US Navy League.He enjoyed reading, was an avid viewer of the History channel and was at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Phillipine Sea during WWII, and was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jean C. Shaw of Ft. Pierce, FL; sons, Edmund J.and Patricia Shaw of Oceanside, NY, and William Shaw of East Setauket, NY; daughter, Mary Ellen and Patrick DeStefano of West Hempstead, NY; sister, Ella Tortorella of Ft. Pierce, FL; and 5 grandchildren.
