William Nelson McKeen, 82, died August 4, 2008 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.Mr. McKeen was born in Peabody, Massachusetts and moved to Ft. Pierce 17 years ago coming from Brunswick, Maine.
Prior to retirement, he worked in Public Affairs for the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. He was a writer for the Horseman Journal Magazine. Mr. McKeen was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII, was the Public Affairs director for the American Cancer Society in Maine, and was Chairman of the Brunswick Town Council in Maine. He was an avid golfer, loved baseball and his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Nancy L. McKeen of Ft. Pierce, FL; sister, Dorothy Smethust of Marble Head, MA; daughter, Lori Sanford of Arcadia, FL; son, Scott McKeen, of Danvers, MA; step-daughters, Lee-Allison Scott of Atlanta, GA, Pamela Foster of Scarborough, ME, and Lois Dersham, of Brunswick, ME; step-sons, Douglas McMillan of Fort Bragg, NC and Kevin McMillan of Brunswick, ME; and 12 grandchildren.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3375 20th Street, Suite 100, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
