William E Teschner, Dds

August 9, 1938 — October 23, 2017

William Everett Teschner “Doc” went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 23, 2017.

Bill was born on August 9, 1938 in Vincennes, Indiana, to his parents William and Dorothy. He lived in Vincennes until he married the love of his life, Jane, on Sept. 3, 1960. After marrying, Bill and Jane moved to Indianapolis so Bill could complete dental school. Graduating from Indiana University , he remained a loyal alumni and devoted Hoosier fan.

Bill and Jane moved to Florida in 1963, first to Ocala and then settling in what would become their home, Ft. Pierce. Bill opened his dental practice in Searstown in 1965. Many patients considered him their favorite dentist for over 45 years.

It was life of adventures and good times that Bill and Jane enjoyed. Bill was a wonderful host and enjoyed entertaining friends and throwing family parties. Together they traveled often. Camping was a favorite activity, with the family and later with their “camping groups”. Bill bought a motor home forty years ago and from then on enjoyed getting on the road. He would sing to his family “We’re on vacation…we’re having a ball” whenever they took off for trips, some favorites were Franklin, NC, Indiana to visit family, or yearly trips to Sanibel Island. Jane got him to go on a cruise and he enjoyed many with her, friends and family. He wasn’t a huge fan of the high seas but sure enjoyed the buffets.

Bill loved “a good walk spoiled”……..golfing with his buddies, he had a regular game every week for many years. Two “hole in one” trophies grace his office shelves, a feat he was proud of. He was a pilot, who won a plane, in a contest he didn’t even know he had entered. For several years, he owned thoroughbred horses and had fun traveling to tracks around the country to watch them run. He was known to say “How bout them Dolphins?”, whether they won or lost.

Above all Bill was a family man. He and Jane celebrated 57 years of marriage in September. Through life’s ups and downs they always served as an example of true love, and proved it can last a lifetime.

His children, Terri and Tony, were beyond blessed to have such an amazing Dad. He was present in their lives always. They were shown unconditional love, even when they tried his patience, which was often. He was always, calm, loving, generous and provided his family with a happy, warm, caring, laughter filled home where there could grow up.

Twenty-two years ago, Bill began one of his favorite adventures, he became a Papa. His granddaughters; Julia, Libby and Ansley, were truly the apples of his eye. He would light up whenever they were around, never tired of their antics, and was very proud of their accomplishments. If “the girls” were around, he was smiling.

Along with his immediate family, Bill loved his extended family. He was close with the two brothers he got when he married Jane and spent a lot of time laughing with Jerry and Edd and their families. His mother-in-law, Gail, lived with Bill and Jane for many years and never made it a secret that he was her favorite. He was a father figure to several “kids” who found themselves spending time at the Teschner home. He had a big family and many he considered family.

Bill was a positive influence to so many. He treated everyone with kindness, compassion, encouragement and the heart of a true Christian. His laugh and sweet spirit will be missed, he has left us with wonderful memories.
“Let love be your greatest aim…” 1 Corinthians 14:1
