Winston Oliver Nataniel Gardner

Winston Oliver Nataniel Gardner was affectionately known as Pop, Teddy, Uncle Teddy, and Winnie by his family and friends.
He was the fifth child of ten from the loving parents of Mr. Clovis Gardner and Mrs. Ethlin Gardner. Winston was born on October 5, 1936 in Rae Town, a city in Kingston, Jamaica. As a young man, Winston learned and developed the masonry trade. He worked building many commercial and residential buildings across Jamaica such as the Norman Manley International Airport, the National Stadium of Jamaica, Independence Park, and Hamilton Residential Homes in Kingston.
There are three things that Winston had a deep and profound love for. Winston loved the Lord, Jesus Christ. He also loved his family and was a devoted family man who lived to take care of them. Then there was that other love, the love of his life; his childhood sweetheart Joyce Lorna Gardner. Winston loved him some Miss Joyce! Winston married Joyce Lorna Gardner on September 27, 1958 where they shared 56 wonderful years.
They were blessed to be able to raise five beautiful children, Janet Gardner who predeceased him four years ago, Errol Gardner, Richard Gardner, Winsome “Denise” Gardner and the youngest, Michael Gardner. Winston has fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Grand children: Denisha Randall, Jannell Randall, Ki-Jana Baxter Harold James, Elizabeth James, Courtney Gardner, Christopher Gardner, Shaari Blount, Shaniq Blount Greene, Dominique James, Dylan James, Deniqua D. James, Shawn Gardner, Nathan Gardner and Makayla Gardner. Great grand children: Paul and Preston Jackson, Ke'Shard J. Smith, Ke'Ari J. Clark and Armoni Greene.
Winston migrated with his family to New York city residing first in Brooklyn, then in the South Bronx. He and his family later moved to Rosedale, located in Queens. After several years, he relocated to Fairway Heights in Miami, before settling in Port St Lucie, Florida. While living in the United States, Winston worked at numerous jobs with his last being a surgical orderly for South Miami Hospital. While there, he was a model employee who received numerous commendations and certificates for his work such as employee of the month. He retired after twenty years of dedicated and honored service.
Winston’s favorite pastimes were cooking, planting trees in his garden and listening to his music collection from all genres of music. He also had a passion for building things; he enjoyed using his tools where he took pride in building and completing things such as his entertainment center, in the basement of his New York home and his covered patio at his Fairway Heights home. As a basketball fan, he loved the Miami Heat and Lebron James; he also enjoyed a good boxing match Most of all Winston enjoyed a great party; he found pleasure in seeing a well-dressed crowd smiling, eating, dancing and enjoying each other’s company.
Winston had a profound and great appreciation for life. He had a tremendous sense of humor and the ability to share with and love all. As a devoted Christian, he enjoyed witnessing and giving testimony about the Lord Jesus Christ. If you were lost he would try to bring you home, if you were hungry he would feed you and if you needed help he would extend his hand to you. If you were strong in your faith, he enjoyed your conversation regarding been a good Christian. During his short time in Port St Lucie, Winston discovered and joined a small church, Port St Lucie Bible Church.
He fell in love with the congregation and the message that was been offered. He felt that this was where he needed to be to hear, learn and spread the word of Christ. Winston loved his church so much that he tried to convince all his friends and family to follow him to the place he listened and served the Lord. As a result of his testimony about his church, his pastor and the Word of God, most of his friends, family and neighbors followed him and joined his church where they’re now faithful participants and servants of the Lord. Winston was a blessed man who lived a full life and passed away peacefully.
As one of ten siblings, he leaves behind brothers: Ronald Lloyd Gardner, Stafford “Neville” Gardner, Boyd Gardner; and sisters: Elaine Smalling, Eldoris Blossom Elliott, and Norma Grannum. Winston is predeceased by his brothers: Donald Gardner, Louis Gardner and Trevor Gardner. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, and extended family.

Visitation will be held November 1st from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a service to start at 11:30 a.m. at Port Saint Lucie Bible Church. Following the graveside service a Repast will be held at Tradition’s Town Hall in Port Saint Lucie.
