Healing Hoofs Therapy Horses was established in 2017 with the goal to bring joy and comfort to those facing difficult times. Founded by Jimmie Anne Haisley and managed by Barbara Neumann, Healing Hoofs uses the power of Calvin and Banks – certified therapy mini ponies – to prance right into the hearts of those facing medical, cognitive or emotional difficulties.
“Miniature therapy horses are just what the doctor ordered” according to an article in the Huffington Post. It has been proven that touch is a very important aspect in the nourishment of the human mind. There are, however, some instances where touch from another human is considered unacceptable for whatever emotional or psychological reason, but the touch of an animal is welcomed. Animals bring more warmth than contentment into a place (like hospitals or nursing homes) where ordinarily touch is invasive or not pleasant.
When it comes to children, what child has never wanted to be a cowboy or cowgirl? The small stature of the mini ponies makes them easy to hug without being intimidating.
